Our story

About us

Puthiverse is a home for readers of Assamese literature — a place to rate, review and recommendthe books that carry our language forward. We built it because a modern shelf for Assamese books simply did not exist online, and we thought that was a small injustice worth fixing.

What Puthiverse is

  • A bilingual (English & Assamese) catalogue you can search by title, author, genre and year.
  • A public star-rating and review system, where the most-liked reviews rise to the top.
  • Personal Want to Read, Currently Reading and Read shelves for every user.
  • A simple follow graph — see the reviews of readers whose taste you trust.
  • Affiliate buy-links for supported vendors so you can find a copy without leaving the page.
  • Shareable book cards for WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook and X.

What Puthiverse is not

  • A publisher — we host no full texts and sell no books directly.
  • An academic archive — we defer to universities and libraries for scholarship.
  • An ad platform — there are no ads, no third-party trackers, no engagement metrics for its own sake.

How the name reads

Puthi (পুথি) is the Assamese word for a book or manuscript — the object our ancestors copied by hand on saanchi paat and passed from village to village.
